Please help! What kind of algae is this??

You are still overfeeding. I feed mine 3 times a week, many others including the experts on here do similar and our fish are fat and healthy. The high flow will not stop cyano, just lessen the appearance of it most of the time. over time, the removal of cyano through syphoning it from the tank...

Please help! What kind of algae is this??

Sorry just to clarify - siphon out the algae on the water change.

Please help! What kind of algae is this??

Siphon as much as possible out on a water change. Try a whole day without any light, or just adjust to a shorter lighting time and reduce your feeding. This will help reduce the nutrient levels in the water that cause cyano.

    Fishless cycle

That will depend on what the source of the ammonia is. If it's live rock then it will depend on how much and a few other factors. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage about the level of spike. Keep an eye on the level dropping and the nitrogen cycle beginning to work.

    UK?

Has anyone on here every used marine life UK to order anything? I was thinking Corals frags?

    UK?

You tend to find that the price relates to who or where they are ordered in from. I have found that my local maidenheads (there are 4 quite locally) can be cheaper than many other places and smaller independent shops. They have some good offers on marine.

    Sea urchin care

I currently have three different ones in different tanks. Banded Mine Urchin; moves rock around in the tanks and causes a lot of works if in a reef, Knobby Sputnik; unusual looking & hardly ever see it & was a hitch hiker anyway and finally a long spine urchin. Lsu is the nicest but they grow...

    Can anyone identify this...

I would also say it was a sponge, I could not identify it beyond that point though.

    ID please??

The light green shoots are neomeris. They aren't bad but do tend to get out of control if allowed and it's worth plucking them in mu opinion. Also u seem to have a bit of hair algae growing around them.

Please help identify small black item on live rock

No its unlikely, damsels are very territorial and I would say its more than likely that he has just found somewhere in the tank he likes to call his own for the moment.

It looks like a really nice one too.

    Help

I agree with all Carey has advised you with too, also I would question why your LFS has sold you this amount of stock so closely together? I know aswel as anyone the temptations of "just one more" but it sounds as if they are giving you an impersonal and poor service in allowing you to make...

    Cyanobacteria or just hair algea

It will certainly help avoid this problem in the future.

    Cyanobacteria or just hair algea

Reverse osmosis water or distilled water, or some RO units have an additional distiller on them also but are pricey where I'm from.

    Orange shoulder and cleaner shrimp

Nothing to worry about unless you notice anything untoward. New fish often spend time investigating and / or getting a clean by cleaner shrimps.

    Cyanobacteria or just hair algea

Hair Algae. Nitrates and Phosphates are likely to be the cause although a test of your water will usually show low nitrate levels as the algae is consuming nitrates. A good source of RO/DI water should prevent this from occurring, until then you may be better off removing the algae manually...

    What is this?

Thats a mojano anemone. they are a pain and will spawn all over your tank if you don't deal with it sooner rather than later. Joes juice or aiptasia x are pretty useful at getting rid of them.

I am also in the south Garfy, I wouldn't mind hearing what you think of the Woking branch as I have not been there.

    Coraline??

Can I suggest that you increase the flow a little in that area, you may find this prevents it from forming. The natural position of the rocks may have caused a little dead spot. This is not a complete solution to the problem as it is likely that nutrients in the water is the cause and altering...

    White film on water?

Agreed, keep plenty of flow in the water to elevate the broken down food and detritus and add a skimmer. By doing this and removing crap from the water it wont harm to be a few days behind on water changes the odd time but overall the more regularly you do a PWC the better for your system.

Pets at Home (UK nationwide pet store)

I actually think it comes down to the staff in each store. The difference between PaH and Maidenhead is that PaH tend to employ a lot of part time staff on minimum wage that don't really know a lot about fish (there are a few exceptions but rarely) whereas maidenhead have a lot more long term...

The staff at Maidenhead are all very clued up, worth going there over any other Lfs I know of to be honest!
