    Pink spots on rock

Talked to a friend of mine and he said it was old dead coralline from when the rocks were used previously. The spots might have been bleached out and regained color when put back in salt water.

    Pink spots on rock

Yeah, I don't know how it could be though. The only the I put in it from any active tank was the 1/4 cup of sand. And my buddy's tank, while it has some, isn't exactly swimming with it. I mean anything is possible, I just don't feel that it's likely. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Pink spots on rock

Okay here's the details. Just set up a 20 gallon long 2 weeks ago. Have 2 OC clowns in it. Running an aquatech 30-60 hob with pillow floss. Today I noticed pink spots in my rocks. Only outside introduction to the tank was about a 1/4 cup of sand from a friends tank to help cycle the rocks...

    Upgrade to 20 long.

Yeah that won't be an issue. One of my favorite parts of having a fish tank is doing stuff to it. Cool tank dude! It looks good. Thanks for the help :)

    Upgrade to 20 long.

Cool. Thanks! Wasn't sure if I could do more then a pair of clowns but this makes me feel a lot better.

    Upgrade to 20 long.

How is your bioload with the fish you have? I'm about to start a 20g long reef and want to have an idea of what I want to do for livestock.

    54w par38 bulb in 20g reef

Okay, I might do that. One more bulb is a lot cheaper than the other fixtures. Thanks for the help!

    54w par38 bulb in 20g reef

I thought the blue was more cosmetic tho. Do you think a single bulb would be okay in the meantime? I'm not interested in running 2 of those bulbs, if I'm pushing 100w I'm just going to grab a taitronics or briglux fixture. This is something interim until I have 130-170 bucks lying around.

    54w par38 bulb in 20g reef

54w par38 bulb in 20g reef Will that be enough light for corals? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something to start out with. In case anyone asks here are the tank specs. 12W x 24L x 16H 20 gallon Aquatech HOB 30-60 (330 gph) Petco power head (125 gph) Gunna have 2-3 inch sand bed...

This tank is an ongoing process.

I like the new background. Makes it look a lot cleaner and allows you to focus on other elements of the tank. Super cool.

    Goldfish is really sick!

Just keep up on the water changes and make sure that ammonia and nitrite stay below 0.25 ppm. I would think that him trying to swim around is a good sign. Right now I would keep up with what you're doing, it seems like it is helping him. Good luck!

    Switching tanks-never done this

If your fish are doing ok in the rubbermaid I would leave them there until you're sure the new tank is okay. For the live rock, if it is bone dry I would rinse and clean it really good to make sure you get all dead material off of it to prevent an ammonia spike. I would do the same with the...

    nitrites need help.

BB will be on your rocks in decorations. You might have done a big hit to the BB colonies when you swapped out the rocks. What doesn't make sense is that your filters should still have theirs.... I would do water changes to get the nitrite down to 0.25 or less and just keep testing and...

    Upgrading tank same space.

If you keep all the sand/decorations/filter from the old tank and have them in the new tank you might see a mini cycle but it won't be much. just make sure you run the old filter with the new filter for a couple weeks or move the filter material from the old on into the new one. With moving...

It will grow in substrate but I've noticed it seems to do better if it's attached to something.

    java moss

Put it securely on something and it will survive. It's almost indestructible.

    Accidental algae filter

Is it a planted tank? If not then I say go for it! People build filters to specifically do that. If it is planted then it could pull from nutrients that your plants need.

    Adding plants to a 10g...

With java fern and Anubis nana, as long as you get it growing on drift wood and don't bury the rhizome you should be fine with sand. Both of those plants pull nutrients from the water column

Differnce between 10 and 6700k for plant growth

The 6700k are closer to the color range that plants can use. If you're running 10000k then you are more likely to have algae issues.
