Hi recently I acquired a 10 gallon tank and I want to make it planted but I'm not quite sure on what I need aside from ferts and good lighting. The fertilizers I'm thinking of for this are:
Flourish comprehensive
API leaf zone
How's that sound? I have 7500k lighting btw. Should I get one of those flora substrates or is sand fine? I'm planning on getting java ferns and anubias nana just to specify. Also should I invest in a CO2 thingy? Thanks!

What kind of light do you have? CFL hood or T8?

Really, 10g are nice because any type of lighting should give you at least low light, which gives you lots of room to experiment. If you can also benefit from Excel, which is pretty practical in a tank that size. CO2 is likely not necessary unless you're trying to grow something more difficult.

With java fern and Anubis nana, as long as you get it growing on drift wood and don't bury the rhizome you should be fine with sand. Both of those plants pull nutrients from the water column
