    Which fish should I re-home?

I'll take that into consideration as the fish get bigger. The plec and GT are both quite small, but I will just enjoy them for now then rehome when they get too big.

    Which fish should I re-home?

Ok fish folk, I returned the aggressive albino and the Geo today and got a green terror and a common Pleco. The green terror is about 4 in so still pretty small right now. So far so good, but I will revisit once size becomes an issue. The green terror looks amazing! I'll send pics when I can.

    Which fish should I re-home?

I'm hearing a running theme regarding rehoming the geo. yeah a pleco would be great. The BP is pretty small so I may keep him for now., but I've wanted a green terror or convict for a little while so the BP may go as well. I have a special attachment to the BP because he's so darn resilient...

    Which fish should I re-home?

It has become obvious that will need to re-home a fish or two from my 125 gal. I am definitely rehoming one of the two albinos. Should I consider any others? I wouldn't mind replacing a fish with another so suggestions of that sort would be appreciated as well. For example rehoming the Geo for a...

    Oscar bullying.

I'm thinking the same thing regarding the Oscar unless they are getting along by the time I get home. What is it about the Geo though? He doesn't really get into it with any other fish in the tank. The Oscar will occasionally go at him or the severum, but he's fast enough and hides pretty well...

    Oscar bullying.

This feedback is awesome so I figure I better give you all some specifics on the sizes of the fish RIGHT NOW chocolate: 6.5 Geo:6 Severum: 6.5 BP: 3.5 Aggressive Albino : 9.5 New Albino: 11 So here is the latest news: As you all know I put the aggressor in time out in a separate tank until I...

    Oscar bullying.

I hear ya. So here's what I did. I set up a separate tank and put the aggressor in it, then I totally rearranged the big tank with the new albino in it. I'm hoping that totally rearranging the tank without the other fish in it will give the new one a chance to establish himself. Tonight or...

    Oscar bullying.

I added a new albino tiger Oscar to the 125 today and the other existing albino is really bullying the new one. The new one will not defend himself even though he is bigger. He just lays there and let's the other albino bump him. He is also getting some scales yanked off. It's been about an...

    Blood red parrot behavior

My blood red parrot for the last few days has had black markings all over his body from rubbing himself on the bottom of the tank and rocks. He does not normally do this to the extent that he ends up looking like he has been swimming in ash but I was wondering if this behavior means something...

Need an algae eater for 125

I hear ya. I have plants but I agree that 12 hrs is too long. These cichlids are tearing up these plants anyway and the only ones they don't mess with are the Anubias and they def don't need 12 hrs of tank light on top o the natural light. It's like we kinda know the answers to our own questions...

Need an algae eater for 125

Tank is near a window and I have the lights on a timer for 12hrs. Nitrates are about 20ppm and I feed once a day. PWC weekly. I think your right about the light, I hadn't really thought about it because it wasn't a problem before but for some reason the algae is really taking off now.

Need an algae eater for 125

I have SA tank with: albino tiger, JD (small), parrot, chocolate, geo, gold Severum, and a fire head. I have had two plecos that did not fair well. The second one was quite large, but I think the stress got to them. Any ideas on an algae eater for this set up?It's really blooming now. Thanks

    Parrot fish question

If you just got the parrot he is probably still acclimating to the tank. How big is your tank and what other fish are in there? Regardless though just leave the log in there because he/she is finding comfort in it and I suspect if all conditions are right he will get more active. I have a parrot...

    Overstocked or not?

How big is your tank? Watch the opaline gourami with the other fish. They are aggressive anyway, and if you add feeling cramped, they will be the first to go after he other fish.

    jumped to his death

I posted about a week or so ago about my Oscar who I thought was a burglar; he jumped out of the tank and flopped around causing me to wake up, throw him back in, and he continued his happy fish life. Well, I found him dead this morning. This time he jumped out of the front of the tank...

Great stories. I wonder what the phenomena is behind fish jumping out of their tanks.

I swear it was a burglar, but no it was.....

So I have a 125 gal New World Tank. I currently house Two Oscars among other cichlids (parrot, JD, Pleco, chocolate, gold severum, Geo). I know it's over stocked, So anyway it's in the middle of the night and I hear a noise that sounded like someone fell down our stairs. We have two children so...

    South American Aggression issues

I run three canister filters and do a weekly PWC to keep water quality stable. I keep the temp at about 79 degrees and have plenty of hiding spots. There isn't really any other aggression but as they get bigger we will see. I will continue to monitor but if the problem persists as some of you...
