    Clown loach skinny disease

I had 4 young clown loaches in my 6 foot community tank, they were all going well for a few months then they got white spot from a new fish that i didnt quarantine (i know). I treated them by raising the temp and using protozin and they all recovered. But now one of them has gotten really...

    What is your dream tank?

My dream tank would be a 200gallon+ loach tank.. it would just have all different types of loaches (yoyos, clowns, zebras, tigers, kuhlis, dwarfs, red finned, angelicus, hillstream... who would all magically get along with each other and be available in Australia because this is a dream lol :D)...

    Lighting a 40x40x40cm cube

Yeah I don't want a 24'' light.. do they make T5HO in smaller sizes at all? I think 24'' is the smallest I've seen. That website looks good (so do the prices!) but unfortunately I'm in Australia so I doubt they'd ship to me. What do you think of the light I posted above? I like that it is 40cm...

I'm not 100% sure what plants i want yet, but i want to have the option to grow high/moderate light plants.. I like the idea of a HC carpet but Im not sure of thats achievable...

Hi everyone, I have just bought myself an Aqua one Aquanano 40 cube tank, I would like it to be moderate - high lighting so I am replacing the 18W light it came with.. any suggestions on what could be suitable for it? I am looking at this light, would it be suitable? Florescent Light Fittings...

    Synodontis (cuckoo catfish) questions

Well I went into the lfs to have another look at him and I ended up buying him :). His is drip acclimating now and I will add him to the tank soon... they told me the tank he was in was only 7.8 (i thought it would be higher cos he was in with african cichlids) so not too different to mine. They...

    Synodontis (cuckoo catfish) questions

That's true, i didn't think of that.. When i talked to the guy working there he said it was called a synodontis or a cuckoo catfish - he wasnt sure on the full scientific name. The tank didnt have a sign i.d.ing it either. But when i looked online it did look just like the multi.. Is there...

    Synodontis (cuckoo catfish) questions

Thanks for the advice, im still not sure if I should get him or not. I would get a school when i can find some more for sale but he'd be on his own at first.. And i do have alot of bottom feeders. But on the other hand (lol) he is so cute! And a bargain, the lfs has $30 on him - i looked online...

    Synodontis (cuckoo catfish) questions

I was looking in my lfs yesterday and saw one of these for the first time, i'd never seen one for sale before. He is gorgeous, and i'm very tempted to get him if he's still there when i go back.. I thought I'd better do some research first though :P. I read they prefer pH above ~8, the tank...

    my stupid snail...

I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to help him heal quickly, other than keep your water extra clean, someone else might have more advice for you there. But you could put something over your filter intake to stop it happening again, like for s HOB or canister filter you can put a pre...

    new to live plants

Well I am also a beginner lol so this might be abit like the blind leading the blind... but I do know that Java fern, java moss and anubias plants are good for low light, low tech tanks. There are different varieties of java moss (I know of the 'normal' variety and the windelov or lace variety...

Questions about Loaches - Availability in Australia and Compatability

Thanks for that info, I might up my group of yoyos from 3 upto 5 then. I'm not even thinking of trying to breed any loaches (yet!), I just want to create an environment that they will be happy and healthy in :). Though I would love for my clown loaches to breed, I think that'd make me pretty...

Would an upsidedown catfish eat a blanched zuchinni or peas?

I haven't kept upsidedown catfish before but I put in vegies like cucumber and zuchinni for my bristlenose catfish and loaches who love it.. My other fish (gouramis, tetras, corydoras) all pick at it too, so I imagine an upsidedown catfish would eat them too? I soften hard vegies like zuchinni...

Questions about Loaches - Availability in Australia and Compatability

I realise most members here aren't from Australia so won't be able to answer what loaches are available here, but I was hoping someone would have knowledge/experience about keeping different loaches together..?

Questions about Loaches - Availability in Australia and Compatability

Hi everyone, one of my tanks is a 120G containing 3 (soon to be 5) small clown loaches and 2 (soon to be 3) yoyo loaches. I really like loaches as a species and would like to get more. I plan to eventually get a 200G+ tank as the clown loaches grow. In a 17G tank I have 5 kuhli loaches - I...

Betta with rapid onset tail rot + other symptoms

He has spent the night in the 6g with the snails, and his tail has gotten worse :(. He has now lost about twice as much tail than what he had lost in the pic i posted earlier. He's also having more trouble swimming and has lost a lot of colour. I'm pretty devestated.. Any suggestions on what...

Betta with rapid onset tail rot + other symptoms

Ok I am going to move him to the 6g and I guess if his tail improves, I can assume it was the dwarf gourami :(. Any suggestions on why he is swimming funny though? In the picture you can see he is on a bit of an angle, he is staying on that angle while he's swimming, except when he goes up to...

Betta with rapid onset tail rot + other symptoms

Thank you for your reply.. their are no white edges on his tail, its just the light in that pic i think. I have never seen the dg hassle him at all, she seems very peaceful (atleast when I am watching..). I might try moving him into my ~6gallon snail tank (he used to live in this before I got a...

My male betta who I have had approx. 6 months seems to have fin/tail rot.. earlier today when I checked him he seemed fine, then a few hours later I looked at him and half his tail is gone! Hello :)

Hello everyone, I have recently gotten into the hobby of keeping tropical fish, its been my obsession since I got myself a fighting fish a few months ago. I started with just the fighter and 2 apple snails in a 20litre (5gallon?) tank, then replaced that with a 2ft tank and added some more fish...
