I just bought some Walt Smith rock from www.oceanpro.com. They sell through Ebay for the best price. Right now you can get cured rock for $2.25. It is NICE. Lots of color and critters.

I'm a newbie to salt also, but from what I can find, you would want to ditch the biomedia and use live sand and rock in the sump. :D

I have 4 discus in a planted 50 gal with neons, blue rams, bolivian rams and 2 clown loaches. They seem to get along well. I do 25% water changes weekly but I am heavily filtered. I have been able to buy 2 blue and 2 red discus , 2 inch bidy, for $15.00 ea.:D

I keep 2 fair size angels with 2 blue and 2 gold gouramis. They seem to get along fine. But remember, fish will be fish. :D

Tropica master grow is great. Start with a small daily dose and gradually raise it to get the iron level you want. If you buy the 5 litre bottle from Big Als, it is much, much cheaper. Good luck. :D

Alot of people reccomend at least 5 times the tank capacity per hour, so you need ant least 125 GPH. If you like biowheels( I do), check out a marineland 170. Thay are about $ 21.00 from Big Als. :D

I do not know if it is fact but I heard that the co2 sold at paintball places may have oil in it. It would probably take a lot of plumbing to adapt a regulator to it. The tank would not last long and cost more in the long run to operate. :D

Most cichlids will dig up live plants or eat them. You might do OK with java moss, Java fern or anubis if you attach them to drift wood or rock. I know my oscar thinks he is a bull dozer the way he moves the gravel around. :lol:

Feeders can transmit sickness to your fish. For a safe fresh treat, give them earth worms. :D

Go to a swimming pool supply and check out pool filter sand. IT is smoothe and almost white. Play sand is fairly sharp edged. :D

Check out the malaysian driftwood at Foster & Smith.com. I have 3 pieces. It has interesting shapes and sinks like a rock. Soak or boil like any wood to remove tannin. :D

Are you doing any water changes?. If not, you need to remove about 25% of the water and replace it with declorinated water of the same temp as the tank. Do this daily till you get the ammonia and nitrites down or you will kill all of your fish. :(

I doubt you will get any measurable co2 out of the tabs. Check out the DIY area for co2 setups. :D

Common baking soda will raise your KH. If you have live plants you may need to add it weekly. I dump a teaspoon into my filter after water changes to raise my KH from 3 to 8. Start with small amount and test to find the dose you need. :D

I don't remember the ratios but in science class, a long time ago, if you crossed a white animal with a black, you should get so many white, so many black and the balance mixes. I have had gold and blacks cross and produce golds with black speckles. :D

Remember that discus, angels and rams are all cichlids. :D
