    Is this ich?

You could go to 82 but that's about it. I wouldn't add salt since you have a pleco in there. Last time I had ich, I just used the heat temp when I had it and all was well after 1-2 weeks.

Might Be A Stupid Question but...

I have 2 regualr stereo speakers in my room. I play music pretty loud once a day or so. I have always noticed that right when it comes on, they get a little startled (just like if someone scared you) but since music is constant vibrations, they get used to it after a second or two.

    Hooray...I have diatoms!!!???

J, if I were you, I would get at least 3 or 4 otos. They like groups and mine always hang out together.

What to feed the little guys?

I second Dan's idea. Also, since they need a lot of protein, I recommend crushing up bloodworms. They love it

Tiny white bugs on my driftwood...

Tiny white bugs on my driftwood...

Over the weekend I was doing a pwc on my tank. When I do my pwc's I always unplug the heaters to prevent them from getting damaged when I lower the water level. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry Thurs. night (Thanksgiving!), and when I was finished I forgot to plug the heaters back in. When I...

    three short questions

I have taken Menagerie's advice for over 1 month now. I only feed once every other day and my fish are all very healthy and happy!

    Multi-illness is my fault

Well, if you have plants in your tank they use up nitrates and if you just did a 50% pwc, you cut your nitrates in half from what they were before. The combination of plants and a big water change could result in a reading too small to show on the scale if the level was already low to begin...

    Wow! Nitrite spike!

    1. I would recommend changing 25-35% daily instead of 10%. 2. The nitrite can be just as deadly. In my experience, they (the fish) can last through the ammonia stage, but then the nitrite sucks all the oxygen out of the water and a lot of the time this can be the final straw. Of the fish...

    Fry food

The pouch comes with everything you need. Just add the pouch plus the amount of water it tells you to and you are ready to go. Just add it straight from the tap. Just make sure to add your dechlor before putting the new water back in.

    Fry food

Brine shrimp have much more protein which fry need when growing to help them grow quicker. The easiest way is to go to your local Petsmart or anywhere else that sells a brine shrimp hatchery for about $10. Here's the link...
