    As far as I understand, there is no definate rule on overstocking, just a "rule of thumb". I keep the tank clean, do often partial water changes and have never had a problem.. All the fish are healthy and look great.. I wasn't thinking of breeding with the tank as is, was asking so I'd know...

    gammarus food ?

    is anyone using wardley gammarus as a supplement food? The reason I ask is that the description is "SUN DRIED gammarus" but I noticed that the container is full of something alive... I don't know if they are "alive" gammarus or some kind of worm or something that has contaminated the container......

    water softener

    Thanks fo the quick reply.. I checked and can bypass the softener and get filtered hard water. Just have to run it long enough to remove all the softened water from the filter.. Thanks again..

    I just had a water softener installed in my house and now realise that there is no bypass valve to get hard water... My ? is... Is it Ok to use soft water in the fish tank.... It is also planted..? thanks

    algae eater???

    what are MN's?? I got 2 otto's (1.25") How big do they get? Do I need driftwood for them? I try feeding the otto's, along with my 2 albino cory's a sinking algae wafer but the tiger and rosie barbs don't let them near it.. Is this normal? Will they be OK with just algae?

    Thanks for the replies..... Do I need to have a piece of driftwood in the tank? I currently don't have one.... If so, is there anywhere to get suitable wood other than at the LFS?? $$$$ Thanks again

    this is my first post and i'm fairly new to the hobby. i have a 20 gal, no plants (yet), 4 tiger barbs, 2 rosie barbs, 2 ruby sharks and 2 corys. the tank has been going great now for a few months with only 2 problems. 1, lots of algae starting to grow. 2, bought a small pleco and it died next...
