    Cichlids changing colors?

    Haha not really hiding in female colors.. all juveniles are yellow and black.. then when they mature the males change over and females stay the same color.. same thing with kenyi cichlids as well. Females stay blue and males change to yellow.

    Your arautus is changing because it is male.. males are different color variation from females.. females are that yellow and black it probably was a few weeks ago and males are black and white

    Anyone know some tips on getting cichlids to reach their full potential? I have a few fish that have gotten to around 3 or 4 inches and stopped growing I keep my tank at around 82 degrees. Feed about 3 times a day. Any other tips?

    I have used bottled bacteria on all my tanks.. I use seachem brand with no problems.. petsmart usually has a startup kit with prime clarity and bottled bacteria..

    I had this same problem with my jewls.. except my male almost killed my female one day while I was at work.. I just moved him back to my large tank and all was fine.. good luck tho.. hope everything works out for you
