What is this spot on his stomach? Im guessing its either a scratch from my rocks or a burn from the heater

My ropefish seems to not be able to swim down to the bottom of my tank he just floats and sluggishly swims at the top. I'm assuming this is a swim bladder problem but im not sure. Any ideas?

Hey everyone I have a question for the long term...are you suppose to do a complete or at least a major water change at least once a year?

In the near future I will be getting a 55 gallon tank and I was hoping for some ideas for fish! I want as much as possible and would love to get some that swim on the bottom, middle, and top. Also I would like to try and have live plants...how difficult is that? Ideas are GREATLY appreciated!
