Thanks heaps for the info guys, ill try out what ur saying. At the moment I clean my filters out every 4 weeks, but never at the same time, so I always have 2 weeks bio load in at least one filter, if u get what I mean. Maybe I should start cleaning them both every 2 weeks?

I was afraid this might have been the answer. Since I don't really want to get rid of any of my fish, I guess I'm going to have to increase the amount of water changes I do? Would the addition of live plants help?

Hey, been away on holidays for 3 days and I have come back to notice that one of my red peacock cichlids has got a cloudy eye with what looks like a scratch in it? Any ideas? Want to fix him up but not sure how or what has caused it?

Give it time mate, I'm all new to this to. I didn't see my fish for the first couple of weeks when I first set my tank up. Now, they just about bust through the glass when I walk into the room! Fish are out all the time. Give it a few more weeks and they'll get better

Just did another test on my tank and got the following results. Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - 40 Ph - 7.8 This is now nearly 3 days since the ammonia spike. Do you think I will get another spike? Any reason why my nitrates are increasing? Anything I can do to keep nitrates down??
