? about blue damsels in a new setup tank 125gallon...

Again (w/out being able to ace a test on it lol) I am 'familiar' with the cycles of fish... I guess maybe a good question for me to ask is this: Is salt water cycling different or more touchy than fresh water cycling? I've had freshwater fish as a kid, and currently have a 36bow tank that homes...

? about blue damsels in a new setup tank 125gallon...

So you guys really think it was over toxicity based on 5 small damsels in a 125gallon tank? I believe u if you say it just saying I didn't think that would be anywhere near bad based on my experiences w/freshwater fish anyway... Now that they're all dead do I just keep the tank empty for a...

? about blue damsels in a new setup tank 125gallon...

It's posted right in the thread itself... a 125 gallon tank. Also the damsels were very small... I brought up to the lfs guy that 5 seemed like a lot, he responded that the damsels were very small and in a tank this size it shouldn't be an issue.

? about blue damsels in a new setup tank 125gallon...

I know it sounds like you don't agree with it but people do fish cycling quite regularly. I took the water sample down to the lfs and they tested it out and said my tank was cycling correctly. I don't remember what the terms were the clerk used but he showed me colors and explained things to me...

? about blue damsels in a new setup tank 125gallon...

I bought 5 of these to start cycling my tank... small ones... thought I'd give them at least a few weeks... they are literally the only thing (or I should say 'were') in the tank other than the sand/gravel at the bottom...I had them maybe a week... Wednesday evening rolled around and 2 of the 5...

Newbie here... 125 gallon tank set up, lemmie know what u think

Alright everyone... I'm a business owner who has set up a 125 gallon salt water tank... I'm getting help through the lfs, but also thought I'd try to learn as much about it as possible here too. I'm still pretty early on, just thought I'd quickly let you guys know what's taken place and maybe...

Help me in my 125gallon saltwater quest... (newbie)...

I already have my tank... it's 125gallon... I bought it on craigslist, $400 delivered. I've done the research on the cracking/scratches, etc... I have a 125gallon tank currently sitting and waiting for my arrival to get this up and running.

Help me in my 125gallon saltwater quest... (newbie)...

Thanks for the feedback so far (hope to get lots more)... The tank has a custom built 'frame' if you will around it. There is a wooden angled top that I plan on padlocking down. Feeding the fish by customers should not be an issue as they should not be able to get anywhere near the water without...

Help me in my 125gallon saltwater quest... (newbie)...

I'm a newbie to the salt water... I know tropical fish... I currently have a 36gallon bow tank with african cichlids... I'm not extreme in that I don't do the water jets or any live plants with the lighting and all, but I'm not an idiot either and am more than willing to learn, but you guys have...

    Rasbora Tetra ?

I had 4 Rasbora tetra's, about 2 weeks ago, one of them passed on. Now, I have 3 of them, and 2 of them look "normal" and 1 of them has a fairly large bloated belly. How do these fish give birth? Eggs? Anyone ever bred any of these? Is there anything I should look for? Thanks for reading.

? about what bulbs to buy....

I have a 29 gallon freshwater tank. I can put (2) 20w bulbs in the tank. I can go with 2800k, 5600k, or 18000k, which would you chose for this tank? 2 5600's? Or should I mix it up? Suggestions please. Thanks for reading.

Question on a type of light?

So buying a 18000k bulb would not necessarily be a waste then? I could run a 2800k and a 18000k and see what happens, correct? I just don't want to buy it if it's a waste.

Question on a type of light?

Why wouldn't you run the 2800k bulbs? You would choose the 18000k for plant growth in a 29 gallon tank? Locally they are $16.99, that's at a petstore, Wal-Mart doesn't even carry plant growth bulbs here. Every response still leaves more questions...ANYONE?

Question on a type of light?

I can get them online pretty cheap. Actually like 4.69 a piece. They have the 2800k for 5.99 a piece. Should I do one of each? Would it just be better to run (2) 2800k, or 1 of each, or (2) 18000k? Would the tank be darker w/the (2) 2800k bulbs then it would be with the 18000k? Would the plants...

Question on a type of light?

Ok, I assume by the "LOL" your joking about getting your bulbs at Wal-Mart, as I don't think they have bulbs that are meant for plant growth. About your comment on the 18000k being "daylight", or "ultra-daylight", is that good or bad as far as plant growth? I would think it would be good? I'm...

Question on a type of light?

Thanks for the tips. What would a light that had 18000K be good for? The lady on the phone said this one was good. What was this one designed for?

Question on a type of light?

Hi. I have a 29 gallon slightly planted freshwater tank. Right now I have 2 bulb hoods. I bulb is a black light, the other is a 2800K bulb. THey are both 24" and 20watts. I found a good deal online (I think) on a bulb. Would this be a good bulb for my tank concerning plant growth? A standard...

    Question on algae

It's a 10 gallon tank, just your basic black light that comes with the set up. When I say "soft light" I mean it's not direct sunlight, but just the natural sunlight that lightens the room. I noticed today the water is VERY cloudy, and was going to do a blackout for 4 days as suggested, changing...

    Question on algae

I have a 10 gallon tank that sits close to a window. It does not ever get "direct" sun, but gets soft sunlight throughout the day. The tank seems constantly to be growing the green algae on the glass, and it gets on the gravel at the bottom as well. I clean it out several times a week by taking...
