I bought a 55g full setup from petco three years ago and got a red oscar. It then escalated fast to a 150g with a pair of ExCichlasoma festae. Wild female, f1 male. The. They died and im at a pause for a bit. Tank is running but nothing but a pleco in it. Once i get money around ill be starting...

Dont get cocky with me. Its because of people like you most of the knowledgeable people left this site. At 4", almost all of the fish of the same species look the same. Im 16 and i bet i have owned more cichlids, and know more about them than you.

Its not called a texas red cichlid, its called a red texas. And yes, it is a fish. A hybrid, but a cichlid

Almost all new fish are stressed when they get moved into a new tank. Although i have only ever had like three fish that were nervous when i got them. Just give it time, itll come out.

Ya :( we have lost hukit, (who was the one that pushed me in the right direction of getting my festae pair), lost cjbourg- who was an extremely knowledgeable person, and various others.

This is why i have been off of AA for a long time and a lot of very knowledgeable members have left also, people that suggest 4 oscars for a 50g tank should stick to minnows and let the big boys keep the monster fish.......

Well i thought you meant appealing as in for you the owner. Cichlids will breed in anything as long as the tank is big enough, there are plenty of hiding spots, and the water is clean.

Nope. I have bought fish and supplies off of there plenty of times. As long as the seller has good reviews you'll be fine.

Not really, you just said that you want it to be more appealing. Dont waste money and time on looks. My main 150g EcCichlasoma breeding tank doesnt look pretty, but they have spawned three times now. Just add lots of hiding spots, some way to make Filtration better, and youll be fine.
