Are my Bolivian Rams a mated pair

I've had 2 bol rams for about 2 and 1/2 months now. I know that these guys are hard to sex. I have seen several methods on how to sex them. The one ram is much larger and has bright red on his lower fins, a very tall first spike on his dorsal fin (which is black). I cant really tell if his...

    Am I almost cycled?

Yeah that shouldn't be a problem. My PH is like 8.0

    Am I almost cycled?

So I could be looking at another month or so, before it's cycled still?

    Am I almost cycled?

Oh I have more than 3 in there. It's 29 gallon. I have 6 black skirt tetra, 2 bolivian rams, 4 guppies and a clown pleco. Yeah I messed up. Used a friend's old filter and thought that meant i was cycled and could add fish. Luckily everyone seems to be doing well!!

    Am I almost cycled?

That's what I thought and that's what I wanted to ask about. 1) is is possible to miss the trite spike, because of water changes? 2) does that picture look like I have trates?

    Am I almost cycled?

I am about 7 weeks in. My tap water tests around .25 ammonia, so there isn't much I can do about that. I use Prime and do frequent water changes. I have never seen any traces of trites? Is that normal? My question is - does it look like I am gaining trates, or is that still considered a zero...

    Rookie mistake. Advice appreciated

The funny thing, not that dead fish are funny, but my Clown Pleco, who NEVER comes out of hiding, was sitting on a rock, in plain view, just staring at the dead Platy. I think he was planning a feast. I had to spoil his fun though and remove the body.

My bolivian rams are very peaceful. So if anyone attacked him, I am guessing it was the black skirt tetras. But even that would shock me. Hopefully this **** water will start showing changes soon! Thanks everyone

    Rookie mistake. Advice appreciated

I am still sitting at .25 ammonia, no trites and the trates seem to be a darker yellow than before, but still no orange on the API color chart. I had a platy die this morning. He hadn't been eating and was just sitting on the bottom a lot the past week. last night I saw a wound on his back. So...

Stock update. Tell me if its too crowded

He's a totally wuss. haha. You never see him. They are nocturnal, so obviously he's not gonna be as active during the day. Even at night, I rarely see him. He just chills in his lil cave. One thing a lot of people have told me, is that you NEED driftwood for them. I just got some. It's in the...

Stock update. Tell me if its too crowded

He's a clown pleco, so they do not get very big...definitely not the size of your normal pleco. I want to say he'll get 4-5 max"

Are panda cories harder to find at LFS? Are the good schooling fish?

Stock update. Tell me if its too crowded

Right now I have a Marineland Penguin 200 Power Filter. It says it's good for up to 50 gallons and my tank is only 29 gallon. I may have even enter the wrong one, a smaller one, in that AqAdvisor thingy.

Stock update. Tell me if its too crowded

I think it has me at like 85-90%, with my current stock. It's been a few weeks since I did it. But I could get a larger, or second, filter right?

Stock update. Tell me if its too crowded

I have actually used that site. It says I do not have enough filtration. But, I know they also play it safe with those numbers. So I'd rather hear from people with years of experience in this hobby. I have no problem doing water changes as needed. Thanks!

Stock update. Tell me if its too crowded

So I am still in the long stretch, with my nitrogen cycle, but I wanted to get some opinions on my stocking ideas. If you have seen my other post, you know I was dumb, like many first-timers, and put fish in too early. It's a 29 gallon tall tank. In it so far, I have 6 Black Skirt Tetras 2...

Thanks for that picture! That will definitely help. Much more helpful than the "same as a man and woman" explanation.

How do I know if the Platy is a female? He/She is kinda fat. The water is still testing at .25 ammonia and zero on trites and trates. PH in mid 8.0 range My buddy just gave me some gravel from his established tank. I am hoping this will speed up the BB in my cycle.

Thanks! Also just noticed my one platy is sitting on the bottom. It seems around some but then goes back to sitting on the bottom

So I just tested high PH.... Shows around 8.4. What does the mean, concerning my cycle and ammonia levels?

So I don't want to do as many water changes? Is that slowing my cycle down? I thought PWC were good
