Agreed! I think that they feel "safe" and happy in the tank if they break up. One exception IMO are Cardinals. Mine are always schooling tightly and are almost always together :P

I seen some at the LFS here also. I really want to but them all (about 20) and try to breed them but they are like $10 ea! I dont have that kinda money kickin around but I wish the LFS would give them to me and work out some kind of a deal. That makes me so mad what has happened to this species!

The cheapest fish that I hae ever bought would have to be Zebra Danios. I got to Petsmart and pick them up for 49 cents each and they are awesome fish and since they are so cheap I buy like 20 and they act so natural and cool in the numbers and breed like crazy!

The size probably will matter the smaller one may not be mature enough to breed depends on the fish. There may be some aggression issues later on down the road also.

Keep canopy tightly covered as they are escape artists. They like company so preferably more than one. Sand substrate is always good for them to play in. They will eat smaller fish so be cautious as they can be agrresive. Large tank as they grow quite big and fast...Hmmm Thats all I can think of...

Sounds great so far! I Agree add some WCMM and possibly some Dojo Loaches for clean up depending on how the pond is shaped and bottom area I'd say 2 would be fine? Be careful tho as they are jumpers and may get freaked out and jump out of the pond. I had this happen with mine in an outdoor pond...
