    55 gallon JD tank

Your going to need a fine sand sub-straight with rots and caves to hide in. If your going to plant make sure they are hardy as jacks will dig and rip them up. As for tank mates anything smaller than the jack will be looked at as a meal (if able to swallow). I've heard of people keeping them...

    GBR

It looks like you have two females to me as they both seem to have the pink on their bellies! Most local fish shops will trade up one for another. I your wanting to breed them the best way to get a pair is to buy a group of fish say 1 x male and 3/4 females then once you have a pair remove any...

    Do I need CO2 and PH controllers...confused

A little algae isn't a bad thing but is a little unsightly! I would try reducing your lights from 10 hours.

    New To Aa

People say different things. From what I've read there isn't much in the way of good bacteria that you want within the substrate or tank water, its actually mainly in the filter media! So by placing a small amount of used filter media in your tank is said to have some gains (in smaller tanks)...

    Starting a Ram Tank

They are fine with cory's just stay away from anything thats fast moving or aggressive as rams are shy fish

    Starting a Ram Tank

Just something you might want to take into account! Rams of all types are currently been mass breed in some very poor conditions with chemicals added to the tanks to improve the colours of the fish. My advice to you is to not get the fish from your LFS but instead find a specialist breeder...

    PH questions

Yeah they do but i had them for almost two years and they did just fine in 7.5. One of the only clear reasons to have a higher PH is people believe you get a better colour.

    PH questions

Quick question which way are you trying to get your PH to go as baking soda is an alkali, so if you wanting the PH to come down ie more acidic. There is no point adding baking soda as its going in the wrong direction!

    Extremely pale German Blue Ram

I'm sorry to say but it sounds like your Rams have what mine had and if they do its not going to end well! I've placed a thread on here and had some answers and I've read some others. The belief is that its all down to the breeder/supplier. Some breeders are adding chemicals to the water to...

If I owned an LFS I would.......

The one thing I would do, would be to display how easy or hard it was to keep each fish I stocked and also what habitat they like. I would also keep records of what types of fish I had sold to buyers, so on there next visit they don't buy something thats going to clash with something they...

    Will cichlids survive the trip

You'll need polly box, bags and heater packs by the way.

    Will cichlids survive the trip

You can find all the stuff you need to transport your fish safely on ebay. If you are going to do it you might want to look into if the fish need to be fasted. As if their going to be in a bag for six hours you don't want lots of poop. Plus don't scrimp max of 3 fish in a bag dependant on the size.
