We have a 12" goldfish that came with the tank 6 mnths ago. We had ich a while back but, have been fine for about 3 months now. 2 days ago, the goldfish bent in half and has been that way since. He is gasping (at least appears to be)but, not at the top so, not for air. We used Clout yesterday on the advice of a store employee but, no change. He said it was probably the bluegill we put in there that introduced a parasite (please don't berate me for putting a bluegill in the tank. We didn't think it would hurt.) Anyway, the bluegill is gone and we really want to save the goldfish. We will do a water change today and treat with clout again but, i am concerned about not seeing any improvement after the first treatment. We also have 3 plecos, 1 koi, 2 barbs and 2 black tip sharks in a 55 gal tank. Please help !!!!

HN1 hit it on the nose. Test your water and post the results. Has anything happened with your tank?

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, the goldfish, koi and everything else except plecos died. We drained the tank, cleaned everything and started over with new water, cartridge and will see where we end up. We bought some little feeder goldfish just to see if they will live. If they do, we will go from there. Thanks again to answer the last question, the goldfish had a great time swimming. He was definately the leader of the pack. We will miss him.:( any advise?

Do you know about the Nitrogen cycle? Did you read the link posted?
