300 gallon "Outside Corner" Reef

I broke the golden rule yesterday. I bough a totally cool looking filefish without knowing anything about it. It turns out it eats nothing but sps polyps
Going to try and trade it for credit today.

Yep. There is another beautiful fish that is the same-
The equally beautiful Leopard Blenny

I took the fish back this morning and traded it for a Yellow Eye Cole

You're not the first person to do that. Spur of the moment purchases can go south. But sometimes they work out or at least you learn something.

You could probably get them to eat something else, for a while. But it's like having the fox in the hen house.

I had someone ask me about parrot fish. I told them they are anywhere from 12" - 48" (yes, I encountered a super male in a cave one night, but that's another story) and they grind up rocks to extract the corals and other goodies from them. Then they poop sand. What a fish to have in your aquarium.


This is the super male. It's hard to see but he's wrapped in his cocoon. My guess is he was 4' long. This was shot with a wide angle as there was little room in his cave. I was very glad he didn't wake up.

One of them passed away about 6 months ago. He was quite old. The other one has grown another inch and is close to a foot long now.
