was wondering what is better for a planted tank... to have a glass top or go without one.
i have 2 angels/2 german blues/2 rainbow rams/1 rainbow fish/2 dwarf gouramis/pleco.knight goby/pictus cat and a wierd dwarf cichlid.

also what height should i hold my light above the tank. right now it is about 2 inches from the water right on the top of the tank. any help will be great thanks

I've converted almost all my tanks over to glass lids. I've seen a huge difference in the amount of light my plants get. Only have two tanks left to get glass for, come on Santa!!!

I had a glass top on my tank, but I have hard water so I took it off since I would get water stains

I have no lid in my 40. Im pretty touchy about my light levels though. Ive lost two fish, both in the first week of having them because they were still not used to me and spooked out of the tank. No problems since them.
