So the more I read about this type of tetra (bleeding heart), I have read on multiple sources they prefer darker areas? I have 8 of them in my 55 gallon tank and watching them for a few days now they do seem to like this one particular corner with increased vegetation.. And they also seem to calm down a bit when the moon light is on in the tank.
They have been nipping each other a bit but not bothering my gourami or Cory at all.
My question is are there any other suggestions out there for adding some floating cover?

If your tank is already planted, try adding Butterfly Fern. It is a branchy floating plant which will allow you to prune it unlike other floaters such as duckweed or water lettuce.

If you keep a cover over your tank where condensation tends to collect, you may consider removing it so condensate doesn't drip onto the Butterfly Fern and cause rot.
