Advice on new rock

Im picking up 40 lbs of rock from a guy on Craigslist tomorrow and was wondering what is the best method of introducing the rock to my tank.

He said the rock is in his tank with the water still running just no fish. Do I need to prep it at all? Research online can get you more confused than you were before you started. ?

Ask if he ever used copper first, then QT it a bit.

To qt do I just soak them in salt water over night? The last time I got rock it was from the LFS and I jut put it straight in.

If he wasn't running reef safe, I'd dunk the new LR in straight distilled water to get all the critters out... that is if you are going reef safe that is. And above already mentioned the copper.
