Air pockets?

Hi all....i have these air pockets in some of my decorations (like a spongebob pineapple and a log). Well i got the air pockets out cuz i thought that maybe the air would not be oxygened enough. But ive noticed that my aquatic frog is less playful. He doesnt swim to the top as much. Granted his 2 froggie friends are gone becuase tey died (longsad story). Well i was just wondering f those air pockets are healthy for him to get air from more regularly. He used to hang out in them all the time efore i got em out.
