Algae growning on underside of aquarium lid

Anyone know what causes this ? Or how to stop it? It's a 55 gallon with two 24" hoods but only growns on one of them
 
Its caused by your lights and the water that collects under your lid and I guess evaporation too. You can scrub it off and reduce how long your lights are on each day
 
try letting it breath

that's why I built these tops

to help prevent it

I would just wipe the undersides off with a damp paper towel during water changes. No biggie...
