We just purchased a used aquarium set up and we scraped as much of the algae off as possible. It's a 40 gallon aquarium; it came with 1 red tail shark, 2 Cherry Barbs, and 10 zebra danios. My question: Would Otto cats be compatible in this semi-aggressive community or do you have another suggestion for something compatible that would eat the algae for us?

A Pletco would do fine, not the common one but the one that are smaller, like the britlenose pleco.
Also snails can help you to control algae, I heard that a Nerite snails are great for that.

Siamese algae eater also could be another option
