algae

Hi guys and dolls. I am having a bit of a battle with algae. I have a 4ft x 18inch tank. I have plants 4ottos and 2 ghost shrimp and do regular water changes but i am still struggling. I am experimenting with my lighting times but with having plants its a delicate balance. Any ideas? I thought about snails then an assasssin snail to keep the population down. Poss more ottos or shrimps. Cheers.

First, what type and algae and second what are your tank readings, tanks size, lighting? Do you have plants, there are alot of factors to consider. Plus different algae eaters eat different types of algae. You need to address the issue of what is causing the algae first.
