First tell us what size tank ?
How long are your lights on ?
Any sun hitting the tank ?
Water test results ?
Any plants ?

A. Reduce lighting to 6 hours a day. Buy a timer they are under $10 usually.

B. Do a big PWC

C. Don't overfeed

Algae isn't magic. It comes from too much light, unbalanced water conditions, too much leftover food or other issues.

A properly maintained , clean aquarium with or without plants, shouldn't have much Algae if any.

Plants will compete with Algae, but do need proper lighting and some care.
