Welcome to my corner of the world and my MTS lighting dilemma. Three small tanks on my desk, one incandescent light. It was great for one, ok for two, but now I definitely need something else. All the fish, shrimp, and plants are doing great but over the course of the late afternoon/early evening I'm moving the lamp around to share the light. With everything going on I have two power strips running; outlets are at a bit of a premium  Any creative lighting ideas for this mess?

How about a few Truelumen LED light strips connected together and then placed on the top of each tank. A 3-way splitter means you only need one outlet for three tanks.

Plug for all 3 lights: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003X...petsupplies_img_2?refRID=1JYAKYV2RCHC0TPN91D7

Thanks so much for posting the links. Since one of the tanks is considerably smaller than the others I ordered 2 strips. Will see how that works and since it's a 3 way splitter I could always but another strip.

They don't need to have all 3 plugs utilized and the splitter should come with a cap for at least one part so it doesn't get dirty or wet. If not let me know. I have two.

They have double stick on the underside, so they should be good to go on the inside of the lid. Or you can just lay them on top...

Good luck and hope they work out for you!!

Silly Amazon delivered the power source and splitter a few days ago, still waiting on the actual light strips

I've had Prime for a long time, no complaints. Really just thought it funny that everything didn't ship together.

But the strips are here so I have a project for this weekend (y)

Wow, they're so bright, love it!

The tanks are 3 different heights and 1 is considerably narrower, this is going to be interesting...

Is it good for highlights plants? The Truelumen LED of course. Since its 12k. Do you know the intensity? Lumen? I want to replace it with my 23 watts CFL 1650 lumen on my 15 inch tall

I got them because of the odd size of my tanks plus the fact that I'm trying to light 3 simultaneously the simplest way possible.

They're definitely bright, at least for these small tanks. I don't like the fact that there isn't an on/off switch on the power source. The plants have been doing well: flame moss, dwarf sag, hygro, jungle val.

You might want to check Amazon reviews to see if other folks mention what type of tanks and plants they're using these successfully with.
