Ok so I have tested my parameters and the Ammonia reading looks like water and I have tested it a couple times. I find it hard to believe that its at zero because I have only had the water in for a week now. I do have some live plants in and this is a first for me so are they keeping the ammonia down?

Nope which is probably the reason. Boy do I feel smart now. Oh well, gotta learn someway. Thanks

Does it look clear like water or is it bright yellow? The ammonia test is a 2-step test (as is the nitrate test). If your not following the directions exactly for the ammonia (8 drops bottle1, shake, 8 drops bottle2 shake & wait 5mins), the results will be clear like water.
