I just bought a used 30 gal tank and realized when I got home it has no frame on the bottom as it does on the top. Is this important other than protecting the bottom edges when moving the tank?

It depends on the tank. Is it acrylic or glass?

The tank is glass. I've also tried to remove the mineral deposits with vinegar, salt, lemon juice, muratic acid, and Rust Off.....with no luck. I plan on getting some CLR today, as it was recommended by someone on this list.
