AquariumPlants.com's own: Freshwater Planted Aquarium Substrate
Has anyone used this product? It seems kind of expensive. I was looking at play sand, then read an article that said that play sand is too fine and will smother the plant roots. Any sand suggestions?

PFS works just fine if you want to go that route. Also, you can buy Turface MVP, and it's pretty much identical to the stuff you mentioned, but lots cheaper.

I had play sand in one of my experimental tanks and found that it didn't go the plants very well. I have fluorite in some of my tanks and I just put eco complete in another tank and found I really like the eco complete better. Considering the price difference I find that eco complete is well worth the extra money.
