Black gravel turning brown?

This appears to be brown algae - due to excess nitrate or silicate and perhaps inadequate lighting. Vacuum the gravel, turn up the lights, and change the water. Plecos and Otocinclus catfish might help but probably won't be a long term solution.

Rock vacuum will definitely help.
Plecos produce a lot more waste than they clean. Idk how big your tank is but consider that before buying a (not standard) pleco.
I just recently changed my black substrate to a smaller more natural river rock and you don't notice it as much after a good rock vacuum.
