Is it safe to use black iron beach sand in a tropical set up?
I have read many many forums of people using this sand with no adverse effects but I am wanting many opinions. They claim it to have no affect on pH/gH etc.
If I do, I would rinse very very thoroughly to rid of salt, and boil the sand also - hesitant of using bleach like many suggest.
I would be collecting the sand rom New Zealand's West Coast Beach Muriwai where I know many have done before for their tanks.
