Hello! New here and in need of help! Hi. I currently have two tanks. One 20 gallon and one 30 gallon. I purchased two new 40 gallon tanks to replace these and am in process of setting them up. My 30 gallon tank is notoriously dirty. I have a 22 year-old feather fan or upside down catfish, a few eels, and three other smaller fish in this tank (I know probably too many fish).
About a year ago I bought some live plants and apparently also acquired what I think are bladder snails. I have tried to manage them through placing plastic water bottle with lettuce and getting assassin snails.… But they have overrun this tank. When I transfer these fish to the 40 gallon I do not want any snails to hitch a ride. I am looking to get advice on the best way to proceed.
Can bladder snails attach to the fish or do they just transfer with water and plants? I’ve thought of moving the fish from my good 20 gallon tank to one of the 40s ...and then moving my fish from the 30 gallon snail tank to the good 20 and let them hang out there for a while to see if any snails form? But it might take a very long time to know this as these snails seem to lay dormant for a while and *poof* appear.
Should I hire a professional?
