Brittle star pieces

I just put a new brittle star in my tank. And the next day I see 4 pieces of the legs scattered around the tank but the legs are still moving.. Do I pull the legs out? I see no center body anywhere..

The legs won't turn into anything, but they can be grown back...any clue as to what happened? I know with mine one gets caught by a clam and loses legs more often than i'd want.

Only thing I can think of is my emerald crab didnt like him.... But All I see is legs. No body. Should I just pull the legs out then? There still moving

I'd remove them, only going to break down like everything else. Why try to raise them more than normal?

True. Just wasn't sure what to do there. First time with those stars.

It is interesting as to that happening like that. I'd be interested to know what happened. Didn't get exposed to air and was acclimated right?

I have had 2 for 10+ years in a mixed reef with Emeralds, Lobsters, Spiny Urchins and have never seen any piece of a leg off? I would keep a close watch on it.
