Any tips on controlling brown algea it grows all over my rocks.

It's a growing pain of new.aquariums. just about everyone gets it at first. Your best bet to get rid of it would be to limit your lighting down to 6 hours a day and just wait it out. The diatoms feed off of excess silicates in the water.

If you have a planted tank you might get a small school of otocinclus. They will clear your tank of brown algae in less than a week. They will eat other algae, too, though they also need to be fed blanched vegetables like zucchini in most cases.

www.otocinclus.com - Home of the Dwarf Suckermouth Catfishes is a good place to learn a lot about them before deciding to get any.

Otherwise, the brown algae just goes away in about six months in my experience.

Ok thanks I don't really have a planted tank so I can't get the otos so I guess I will just wait it out.
