Hello,

I recently purchased an amazonian sword for my tank that has what looks like a long, thin branch growing out of it with little buds on the branch and leaves growing out of the bud.

One of these buds has sprouted roots (or something that looks just like roots).

Is it possible for me to cut the "branch" off of the plant and put it in my gravel to grow a new one?

I know this discription is unclear, but sorry I don't have a lot of experience with plants

Thanks!

This is called a runner and is how the sword propagates. Wait until the plantlets get enough roots on them and are big enough to plant then simply prune the plantlets off and plant them.

the larger the better before you cut it i would make sure the runners are a good 4-5 inch or more. the stem can also keep growing right out of the water and flower.
