Yes, 48 three watt leds will burn most things in a small tank like that. 2 or 3 of them is way too many. I don't like the square footprint though. You'll have to hang it pretty high in order to use it effectively.

As for the first, clip on models, no- they will not support photosynthetic creatures.

I suggest a dimmable, rectangular unit.

Reviews aren't always accurate. It could be some guy with a few mushrooms. I wouldn't suggest using these. They are just for looks/ supplemental light.

Things like "my corals love them" are no indication of growth and coloration.
