Anybody got any tips how to keep my substrate clean, I have endeavoured to do it, however usually end up having to replace it.

What kind of substrate...sand, crushed coral...?

Most times sand does not need any specific "cleaning" unless there is a lack of flow, etc. that allows for nuisance algae to grow. Sand stirring snails and natural infauna often do well at keeping things pretty clean. Crushed coral can be vacuumed, going through it as if it were gravel in a freshwater tank.

I have a Coarse Coral Gravel sitting on Fine Coral Gravel, but am going to replace the coarse stuff with more fine, as I think it will be easier to keep clean if current is adequate.
