I have a 65-gal tank with lots of LR and four fish, and only a few snails left from last batch I got > a year ago. I'm getting ready to order more snails, but wonder if it would be helpful to get some other cleanup critters - crabs, starfish, cuke, whatever. I've heard mixed comments on crabs - some folks advocate clawless tanks, some say certain crabs get big and attack fish, or eat snails. Even heard some negatives on some starfish.

I tend to have trouble with red/purple algae, but I just need to do PWC's more often.

Appreciate any advice.

I'd suggest the following: skunk cleaner shrimp, sand sifting star fish, cleaner wrasse.

I know in mine I hane some turbo snails, some nassirus snails (for the sand) and some hermits also. I have a sand sifting goby for the sand also.
