So I have 2 ocellaris clownfish.

At night time when I turn the lights off they swim round a little then sometimes the biggest one goes down to the sand and starts rubbing itself in the sand and kicks all the sand up.

Is this normal behavior? I know clowns do crazy things but...

Thanks

My Clarkii and even my damsels (same family of fish) all did that in my 30 with a fine sand substrate. They would make either caves under rocks or in corners as a place to sleep. If I covered it up during the day, they would be right back at it later on.

Mine used to dig down in the substrate at night when first put them in tank but don't no more. Use to wake up with ditches everywhere so they might just like it there

There are no white spots on the fish. They look very healthy eating good etc. Just that they dig in the sand every so often. Could they be cleaning themselves?
