Combine 2 NO to make 1?

I was thinking about combining 2 NO T8 fixtures I have, well hoods anyway, into one fixture. Is this feasible and how would I do it if it can be done?

I was thinking about taking the ballasts and putting them in the middle of the two bulbs so I have 2 switches. I will build the fixture out of wood so that isn't an issue. I just want something simple for my 3rd 10 gallon I will be using as a quarantine tank.

yeah you can do it, and your idea sounds fine to me. you could use one switch if you wanted to do that (instead of 2) and it wouldn't be any more complex of a wiring job. only thing i would suggest is make sure you place the ballasts away from each other, so it reduces your chances of overheating them, i doubt that be an issue but why chance it ?
