Hey its been awhile since ive done anything drastic with my tank.

So here is a little history first. I used to have 2 tanks a 75 fresh and a 38 salt. I moved 6 months ago and broke my saltwater tank down and gave all my critters away, I only wanted to move one tank and my freshwater is my baby. In the move a few things happened. My CO2 system broke. I also had to pull out my miracle grow substrate and convert to play sand due to the convenience of keeping my system going. I lost 4 fish, a little upsetting but not unexpected.

Now 6 months later. I am about to order what i expect is the last piece to bringing my CO2 system up and running. Also I am trying to increase the flow in some of my slightly dead zones. How do I clean power heads from a saltwater tank for a freshwater tank. I was just going to soak and scrub, vinegar soak and scrub, and finally a boil to sterilize. Will that work?

I would just let them run in a bucket of fresh water and change it a few times before using, unless of course there is coraline algae on it, then a soak in vinegar may be needed.
