Coral Growth

Can someone tell me what is needed to get coral to grow on live rock????? Or must i buy the coral already living????

Once a coral is dead, there is a slim to none chance its going to come back. So yes, you need to buy it living. Coral hardly comes already living on liverock, those people are just lucky.

you can get coraline growing on the rock quickly with the right lighting

Pinda, are you talking about corals, that you buy or do you mean coraline algae (the pink/green/purple) stuff that grows on the rock/glass or other equipment?
If you are talking about corlas, then I agree with DT.
If you are talking about coraline, then lighting/salinity and I believe Ca will help it to grow. You will need a piece of LR that already contains the algae, and it can/will spread.

I meant growing coral, not coraline.

Gotcha. Sometimes you can get a bonus coral on a piece of LR from your LFS. I bought a piece and it has corals on it. I don't think my LFS saw it.
