So.. my boyfriend and I got some mollies about a month ago, and yeah.. they got pregnant as they are easily breedable fish. We decided we need different fish, we aren’t ready to easily breedable fish.

So,

What gouramis and danios fit together?

We are hoping to get a gourami and danio tank. We were thinking maybe honey gouramis with some zebra danios but we want to know what hardy freshwater fish we can put in our current 20 gallon.

Gouramis and danios should not be kept together because danios are too active and stress the gouramis with their constant movement.

Danios should not be kept with angelfish or other slow moving peaceful fishes.

Danios need a bit of space to swim and should be kept in groups of 10 or more in tanks that are 3 foot or longer. The smallest tank you should even contemplate keeping them in is a tank that is 30 inches long

What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?

Your GH is low (30ppm) so small soft water fishes like small gouramis and maybe some small tetras, but it depends on tank size.

Avoid dwarf gouramis (Colisa lalius) and all their colour varieties because they are regularly infected with the Gourami Iridovirus and or Fish Tuberculosis (TB). Neither of these diseases can be cured and once they are in a tank, they continue to kill fish until the tank is taken apart and sterilised.

There are other small gouramis that don't have these diseases. Sparkling, honey, Indian banded and a few others are generally better choices than dwarf gouramis.

Small tetras include flame, ember, maybe black or red phantom tetras (depending on tank size).

Is the filter cycled (have the colonies of beneficial bacteria that convert ammonia into nitrite and then nitrate)?
