I recently saw a gray bichir at WalMart labeled a "dinosaur eel". How ridiculously obvious is that manipulation on people who know nothing about fish and are enticed into buying an "eel" for the aquarium that they are probably purchasing on the same day! WalMart should NOT be allowed to sell fish at all.

That has been a common name for quite some time now. Khuli loaches, reedfish, bichers and pretty much anything with a cylindrical body shape are commonly called "eels" so I would not put blame upon Walmart for it.

The only time I will ever buy walmart fish is if the fish are still in the plastic bags on the day of arrival and have yet to be put into the tank. I agree with you as well they should not be able to keep fish either.

Petsmart also labels them as "Dinosaur Eels", although Petsmart does at least list the scientific name as well.
