discoloring Hard Corals

So I can admit when I am wrong or do something stupid...yesterday I was trying to bump up my PH from 7.7, and added 4 tbls of Buffer rather than 4 tsp, and yes the PH spiked up to 8.8. Just today I noticed some browning in the tips of the Birdsnest and the Purple Coral is dulling.....is this because of the PH Spike, and should I add some CAL buffer to lower the PH?

My guess is that it was from the buffer... but you never know. Pretty coincidental though. Most likely the temporary pH spike from the buffer will go away, if it hasn't already. If not, I'd do some water changes rather than get your parameters out of whack even more by adding Ca.
