petsmart diseased my 10 gallon so i decided to take it down. i have a 15 gallon filter on that tank i would like to use on my 46 gallon bowfront. is there any way to rid that filter of disease? i dont have a clue to what the disease is i just know that its killed three of my most hardy fish. it WAS my qt. so my question is, is there any way to rid this filter of disease? thanks!

Depends on what the disease was but most things can be killed with 1:10 (if I remember correctly) bleach solution. Rinse rinse rinse & then let air dry for a couple of days. Change out the filter media & you should be good. Some "diseases" will die off without a host & sanitizing wouldn't be necessary.

1 part bleach to 10 parts water so its a very dilluted bleach solution.
