Is there any way to disinfect a marimo moss ball? I had it in a tank with one of my bettas which got sick and died. I've had the thing forever and would hate to just throw it away. is there anything i can do to make sure it doesn't spread any unwanted bacteria to any other fish?

I'm sorry about your fish.
Since the ways to sanitize plants that I know of also kill algae, and marimo balls are actually an algae, that wouldn't work. You could keep the marimo ball in a vase or jar, since they don't need heat. Many people keep them this way. After about 2 months I would think that any bacteria or disease that needs fish as a host would have died off. To be extra safe you could just keep it in the vase though.
