Hey guys! I have two red claw crabs that I keep in a 10 gallon tank. I have a filter that is always running. Besides removing uneaten food and performing partial water changes, is there any other way to keep the smell down?

Hello, you could add more cabon. Simply take a clean womens nylon stocking, fill w/amount of carbon that will fit in your filter & tie w/rubberband so you can reuse.
This should alleviate any smell(change carbon as needed). Hope this helps!!!!!

How often are you rinsing the filter media? You can rinse it in dechlorinated water.

Also activated carbon is useful for about 7-10 days from what I have read. Maybe as little as 4-7 days. Buying in bulk can defray the cost.

And you might consider a larger filter if it isn't doing enough.

Another thing is checking along the ridge of the aquarium where the glass sits on the rim. Wipe it and also under the rim. Bits of food can get stuck in all those places.
