My powder brown tang has a habit of chewing the nori off at the base and a lot floats away, how much effect with this have on my parameters?

Like sniperhawk said, it will.

But seaweed isn't the hugest waste producer. Something you could do would be to use two clips (one at the top, one on the bottom; or side and side), your tang might be biting at the base because it doesnt move while the other parts flow and are too difficult to eat.

You can also take some clear plastic mesh (1/4") and make a pocket for the nori. The clip holds the pocket in place and the fish nibbles the nori thru the holes. This can also work for frozen foods.

I cut my nori into strips like this leaving it all attached to a single piece that I can put in my clip.

The overly aggressive nori eaters don't tear the entire thing apart if they pull too much. My yellow tang loves it.
